Wren Whalen
Media Intern
Wren Whalen is an undergraduate student at the Lawrence Conservatory of Music, where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Clarinet Performance under the mentorship of Dr. Andy Hudson. During her collegiate career, Whalen has cultivated a love for performing new works, collaborating on chamber music projects, and teaching the clarinet. An avid poet and writer, Whalen’s passion for literature has allowed her to see music and connect with audiences in unique and powerful ways. She is a founder of the Lawrence University “Fresca” Wind Quintet and is a soloist with the Lawrence University “Wolfpack” String Quartet, and her E-flat clarinet solo in Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique "...stole the show... They impressively captured both the section’s creepy and playful qualities with impeccable tone quality." (The Lawrentian). She also serves the International Clarinet Association as an active member of the Social Media Committee. Whalen has performed at Chicago's Merit School of Music, the Belgian Clarinet Academy, Juilliard’s Summer Winds program, and is excited to take her music to Calgary at the 2024 Sound Atlas Festival and begin her role as Media Intern for Latitude 49. After her time at Lawrence, Whalen plans to pursue graduate study in Music Performance, with the long-term goal of playing professionally and teaching her own private students.
